We had big plans for our Saturday in Baton Rouge, but it rained. And rained. And rained. So our plans to take Em to Baton Rouge's Spanish Town Mardi Gras Parade fizzled. After lazing around Aunt Terri's all morning, we decided to take Em to the children's museum for the afternoon.
Em had a fantastic time!
When we were leaving, Em and I were waiting for Clinton to bring the truck around (it was still raining!), and some parade floats went by on their way to line up. We saw them throwing beads to people down the street. So my little baby stood on the curb and waved and waved, and those people didn't throw her ANYTHING! She took it in stride, but kept saying "why they not throw me anything?". I was more upset than her, and when I told Clinton, he was upset for her, too. That was it, we were going to that dang parade, rain or shine!
So we parked downtown and walked all the way to the beginning of the parade, just as it was rolling out! I wish I had some pictures to show y'all, but it was still raining and I couldn't get my camera out! Emma was standing on the curb in an adult sized poncho (Clinton cut it off so she could stand!) saying "Throw me something, Mista!" And she racked up the parade swag! Everyone kept throwing things to me and Clinton saying "Here, give her this!" We were so loaded down (we forgot to take a bag!) and soaked, we left after about five minutes!! Since I don't have any pics from the parade, here are just some of the goodies she got!
She loved it! We can't wait to take her to another, hopefully when its sunny!
