Free Mini-Vacay!

Who doesn't love free stuff? No one. How many times have you heard someone say, No I'd rather pay... And I mean really free, with no catch! Free free stuff!

Clinton, amazingly, won a free getaway to Beaver's Bend, OK from our local radio station! And we went this week! We used it as some adult time and left Em in the care of my sister (and my dad helped some, too!)

Not only was our cabin free, we also got certificates for food and entertainment. Here's a little run down on our spending!

We upgraded our cabin to one that was a little bit bigger, for $30 a night. So that was $60.

On Wednesday, we stopped by The Busy Bee on the way in for some lunch. Food was great! Two burgers, tots, and two cokes didn't even use up all of our $25 gift certificate, so... we got a FREE 12 pack of beer to take with us. Score! Total...still $60.

That night we went to The Grateful Head for dinner. We did NOT have a certificate, but we've been there before and knew it would be good! Just a little splurge, an order of wings, two small pizzas, and 3 beers cost us $40. Putting our total at $100. AND we had lots of leftovers to take back to the cabin with us! 

The next morning, we got up and went canoeing! We had a certificate to Tippa Canoe Rentals. I didn't take any pictures because I didn't take my phone. Good thing, too, because Clinton dumped us in the river twice. And by Clinton dumping us, I mean it was CLINTON's fault, and it was because he was too busy talking to other people fishing instead of noticing that the biggest falls on the river were right in front of us. If you've ever been canoeing, you know its really hard to steer by yourself, and HE wasn't helping. So, just to reiterate, it was CLINTON's fault we dumped ourselves into the freezing water! But it was really fun, anyway! The certificate was for $25, but the canoe was $40 total, so we ended up spending $15. Running total is now $115.

After leaving the river, we went to lunch at Papa Poblanos. Going there after canoeing is kind of a tradition. Good thing we had another gift certificate! Lunch was totally free and delicious! Total still at $115!

That evening, we spent some time driving around the mountains and the lake. Until I got carsick on the winding roads! Ugh!

We decided to splurge for dinner again, and to go to Abendigo's. We both had a good steak and spent around $50. Putting our tally at $165.

After leaving the restaurant, we decided to have some good clean fun and healthy competition with some Putt Putt golf! The first hole showed how the rest would be...

And after the final hole...

Yes! The final score was 53 to 40!

The golf and an ice cream treat cost us another $15. Our total was at $180.

This morning was check out time! Time to head to the real world. BUT first, we had some more gift certificates to use up!

We stopped by Hot Mess Boutique to see if I could find myself a little something... I grabbed up this cute little shirt for $2.07, after my g.c.! Total at $182.07!

Says Luckiest Girl in the World!

Our last stop was at the casino! We had a food certificate for $25 and a $50 free play in the casino! First thing we did was sign up for a players card, giving us each $10 more to gamble with! So we played slots with our $70 for about 30 minutes, then went to lunch in the cafe. Using our player's cards, we got a catfish lunch for $4.99 ea. including drinks!

Honestly, I wasn't expecting the food to be good. But it was amazing. Best catfish I've had in a long time!

We had so much money left, we got food to take home! We left the casino with two pounds of barbeque AND $51 from our slot winnings. Don't forget we didn't spend a dime! And I don't have to cook tonight!

So we a great 3 day/ 2 night getaway for $182! (Less if you deduct the money we WON!) And honestly, if we hadn't splurged on our dinners, we would have gotten out a lot cheaper! It was worth every penny to spend QT with Clinton, though.

And you won't believe it, but we did NOT use all the gift certificates. Still have 4 or 5 left! It really was fantastic prize pack to win! Thanks East Texas Radio!
