Ugh

We had a great day at the lake today.

Wish I could show y'all some cute pictures.

But I forgot my camera. UGH!

Forgetfulness

Today was the Smith Family get-together at South Lake. I have no pictures. I forgot my camera. So the subject of this post will not be the get-together.

But to sum up the day, lots of family, lots of food, swimming, fun.

Back to the point.

I am getting really bad. You might have noticed my forgetfulness as a recurring theme in the past few posts.

I forgot to pack diapers for my non-potty trained child.
I forgot to empty my memory card when we went to the lake.

I'm sure there are more but I can't remember them. ;)

At least, I'm not the only one. Today, a group of us were talking about how forgetful we were. I told them about how a few weeks ago, Clinton told me that he wanted to do X that coming weekend. A few days later, I asked him what had he wanted to do (I'd already forgotten) and HE couldn't remember! We STILL can't remember what it was. It's so frustrating!

Is it the getting older thing or the raising a toddler thing?

Family Day

Every once in a while, Clinton and I decide to have a "family day". We basically spend the day doing whatever Emma wants to do or whatever we think she will like.

Hmm. Well that doesn't sound too different from everyday of our life. I guess I should describe it as a day that we ignore our regular household duties and just focus on having fun together.

First thing, we had swimming lessons again. This time I was supposed to "disappear" so that Emma would focus on her lesson. Umm. This backfired big time. She screamed and screamed. The only thing that could get her to calm down was her friend, Colt. He sat by her and she settled, but when it was time for him to resume his lessons, she got upset again. We all finally had enough and decided that Emma isn't ready for swimming lessons. We'll try it again next year.

So family day didn't start off great!

Next, we went to McDonald's. A real treat for Emma because she doesn't get to go there often.

We were planning to stay awhile and let her run off some energy. There weren't too many kids in the play area, and all was fine until a car pulled up and unloaded around 10 more kids. Clinton and I decided it was time to go! Ha!

So we let Em do some shopping (her way). We went to her two favorite stores.

Petco

Or as I like to call it "The Poor Man's Zoo/Aquarium"!

She loves to push the little buggy around and look at all the animals and fish! She kept saying "Look at this, MommyDaddy!" She said it all one word like that!

And Paris Baby!

She kicked her shoes off and jumped in to play in the sand! She kept asking me to take off her clothes, the little nudist! She, also, got to pick out some beach toys to take to the beach in a few weeks!

Then it was time to head over to the library for a show! The theme of the show was "Digging in the Bayou", right up our alley, right? Emma LOVED it!

But we had to leave early because "Mother of the Year" here forgot to repack my bag and we ran out of diapers!

Ugh! I swear I'm worse than an 80 year old!

Yes, she's still wearing diapers! If anyone wants to volunteer for potty training services, go right ahead!

So we had to return home, and spent some time resting before the next activity!

That night, we took Emma to Movies in the Park for the first time. She had a big time, but Clinton and I didn't get to enjoy it for worrying about what she was doing!

Like running around trees, getting on people's blankets, looking in their bags, and stealing their food!! She even asked a lady for one of those glow bracelets, and the next thing I knew the lady had went and bought her one! Emma is such a moocher!

She did sit still long enough to watch the commercial for the Movies in the Park sponsors! Emma is in the Paris Baby one!

Em is in "Take 1" and "Take 200" ;)

The movie was The Sandlot, but we had to leave right after the kid's first big catch scene because Clinton's stress level had reached max. capacity!

By then Emma was thoroughly worn out, but happy! A successful family day!

Busy Day

Whew! We have had a busy, busy day! I thought it was supposed to be lazy summer days, not running around, busy-as-a-bee summer days!

We started the day off with swimming lessons at 9 am. This was Em's second lesson. She is by far the loudest, crying-est kid there. She is, also, the youngest. The other kids cry some, too, but Em is the best at it! :)

After lessons, we rushed home to get changed to go to story time at the library. Today was our first time going, and Emma loved it. She, also, picked out two books to bring home. She was so excited about reading her "Angelina" books (Angelina Ballerina).

Once we got home, we had lunch. Then her Mamou & Granddad came over. Granddad went fishing with Clinton, and Mamou stayed and played with Emma. I cleaned.

I cleaned almost the whole house in less than two hours. It was so nice to clean without so many distractions. Or should I say without "THE distraction". Of course, Emma would say that anything that takes the attention off of her is a distraction! Ha!

Later, we cooked homemade hot wings and fries for supper. Cleaned up, bathed Emma, then finally cleaned Emma's room. I waited because it was TOO much to do by myself! I made Clinton help me :)!

Finally, the day is done... and I'm blogging. I'm ready to crash though! Night, night!

I popped it!

Emma has gotten really independent. Always wants to get her own snack. She is always sneaking into the fridge and grabbing a cheese snack. BUT, she has to bring them to me to open them :)

Tonight, I hear Emma opening the fridge and rooting around. I actually think she's in the freezer and holler for her to stop. I hear what I think is Emma digging in the box of frozen mini pancakes (her favorite breakfast!). I told her, "Em, put those pancakes up. They are frozen!!"

She comes running in the living room and says "I popped it, it's a mess" I'm thinking she meant to say "dropped" so I said "Clean it up, pick them up!"

Emma runs back into the kitchen, then turns around and runs right back and says, "I need a paper towel!"

"Wha-what? What did you do?"

"Help me, Mommy"

I walked into the kitchen and there is an egg. An egg smashed all over the floor. An egg that has been "popped". Smart kid :)!

The carton is sitting on the counter.

I assume the sound I thought was the plastic inside the pancake box, was the egg carton being opened.

Emma and I cleaned it up, she is a really good help with cleaning...

I think its time to put the baby locks back on the fridge!

Cabin Fever!

After Sherri's graduation, the whole group went to a cabin in Broken Bow, OK for a few days to celebrate!

The girls rode ponies at a festival!

I still can't believe Emma got on one! But she had a grip of Granddad's hand!

She eventually let go!! Yay Emma!

Libby got scared by the bounce house, but Chelsea was there to comfort her!

Pretty little ponytails!

Emma splashing Mamou!

Everyone enjoying pizza and beer at the "Grateful Head". It was great!

I don't know what Libs is fishing out of that glass!

Just give her a stick and some rocks and she's set!

Clinton and Scott soaking up Mike's wisdom!

The girls ended the day with a skinny-dip!
I do not have anymore pictures of that night because I was inebriated. I apologize for how obnoxiously loud I am when I'm drinking... ;) it was fun, though!
